George has written with Kids in the Hall and The Mercer Report and is renowned for his clever wit often in the guise of his sly song stylings. This was recorded live at Bread & Circus, one of Toronto’s coolest venues, in the heart of Kensington Market.

The post on a theatre shoot is always a challenge. On this occasion I was running a Canon XH-A1 shooting from the left of the stage, Chris Monette was shooting with a Panasonic HVX from the right of the stage. I also used a Canon HV20 to capture the audience and an HV30 from the back of the room. Jude and I shared production duties and the awe inspiring Kathleen Goldhar kept us in line as our Executive Producer. Chris Monette directed, shot and edited the Tasha James sketches (none in this video) and Merewyn Wagner was the backbone of the night as Stage Manager. Actor / writer Robyn Palmer added to the zest of the evening! Full credit list at end of the video. Enjoy. (written by Lindsay Stewart)

Judecast Live! The Alan Park Interview

We shot the first Judecast Live show on March 4th, 2010. Our first guest was comedian Alan Park (Air Face), who was generous enough to also do standup at the top of the show.

Park is politically savvy, badass bright and wicked funny — if he were doing his thing south of the border he’d be a household name like Jon Stewart or Bill Maher. But, he’s a dedicated Canuck comedian and we’re lucky monkeys to have this kind of intimate access to someone of Park’s caliber.

Attached is Park’s interview. I will be loading his standup shortly.

Judecast: What it is

Judith ‘Jude’ Klassen is a regular columnist for Movie Entertainment magazine and host of the popular podcast Judecast. Jude has built a rabid online fan-base through quirky audio interviews with luminaries of all stripes; from actors, writers and directors to musicians and even wrestlers.  Some of the insta-classics include one-on-ones with the likes of Bill Paxton (Big Love, Alien), Michelle Forbes (Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, 24), Natalie Dormer (The Tudors) and Blair Underwood (Sex and the City, In Treatment).

On March 4th 2010 Jude took her once audio-only show to the next level, filming the very first Judecast LIVE at the Bread and Circus in Kensington Market. That first episode, starring Alan Park (Air Farce), George Westerholm (The Mercer Report), Kevin Brauch (Iron Chef America / The Thirsty Traveler), and sensational, young Jazz artist Elise LeGrow (just signed with Sony), and special guest, actor Robyn Palmer played to a standing-room-only crowd and was considered a smashing success.

Team Judecast mounted a second sold-out show on June 24th. Judecast Live 2 featured actor Robyn Palmer, comedienne extraordinaire Maggie Cassella, History Channel’s Re-inventor Matt Hunter, a Bill Maher-style writing panel with scribes Rob Sheridan (Corner Gas, Little Mosque, deal with WB!) funny man Sean Cole (This American Life, Weekend America, The Current), and rock star Tara Slone (with Hill Kourkoutis).

Judecast is produced by: Judith Klassen, and musician/actor/film editor Lindsay Stewart. Exec-produced by veteran CBC radio producer (The Current) Kathleen Goldhar.  Segment producers include photographer/videographer Chris Monette assisted by Chris DeKluyver.

Stewart and Klassen are currently building the Judecast Channel and Website.
